Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with seams of lacquer, gold, or silver. It speaks to breakage and repair becoming part of the history and character of the object and adds to its beauty. Inspired by the philosophies of Kintsugi, we “repaired” the cracks and breaks in the sidewalks with hand-made fool's gold.  Hand painting found rocks to create our pseudo precious mending material was significant in our thinking of function, brokenness, and what it means to be whole.
